ABOUT US

Hello! And thank you for visiting. I’m Gary Kloncz, the new District Commissioner for Eastern Waters District (aka District G).
Eastern Waters or District G is an amalgamation of three old districts including Great Rivers, Kaposia, and Many Waters. The Council remapped the districts to correspond better with school district boundaries and assigned letters, ours being “G.” However, “District G” didn’t have a lot of pizzazz or curb appeal. So, through a vote, our District decided on Eastern Waters as a nickname.
Our website is a place where you can come and find information that Council does not cover; i.e. who is your unit commissioner, what are the goings on in your neighborhood, what’s happening at the district level, etc.
Our district has the following mission and vision.
MISSION
To mobilize resources to ensure the growth and success of units with the District by carrying out the operational mission of the council.
VISION
- For each unit to have a trained Unit Commissioner that meets with their unit providing support and resources and reporting to the district leaders the units’ successes and opportunities.
- Meet with the unit leaders at least four times a year.
- Provide timely communications
- Create fellowship and cooperation among the units
SCOPE
- To communicate council goings-on without duplicating effort or counter programming including
- Activities
- Camping
- Fundraising
- Religious Emblems
- Training
- To provide unit service via unit commissioners
- To provide training not covered or well covered by the council or its events or buttress existing council training opportunities for new leaders.
- Support scout advancement through various but limited district events to support council’s mission, where the district perceives a gap, or to help self-fund the district.
- To assist units to fill their high adventure crews.
- To enable units to help themselves through promoting communications between units and through neighborhood summits.
ABOUT ME
![]()
I earned my Eagle Scout at 17 in 1988. At 18, I served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for two years before focusing on college and career. It wasn’t until I had children of my own that I rejoined Scouting with my oldest son joining Cub Scouts as a Wolf Scout.
Since then, I have held a variety of roles including three years as a Pack Committee Chair, two years as a Den Leader, three years as a Cubmaster, two years as the Cub Scout Breakout Commissioner at Roundtable, and the three and a half years at the Assistant District Commissioner of Roundtables. I am also a Scoutmaster of a local Troop in Woodbury.
I am thrilled to be taking on this new role and cannot wait to serve all the units in Eastern Waters.
ROUNDTABLE (“Roundtable Rocks!”)
In this one meeting, we hold Order of the Arrow Chapter G Meetings, Eagle Project Proposal Reviews, Breakouts for Cub Scouts and Older Scout Programs (Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts), General Assembly with announcements, midway, and handouts, and general fellowship with your fellow Scouters. For this reason, we like to call our Roundtable your “One Stop Shop for Scouting.”
We hold Roundtables monthly on the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 – 8:30 PM at Guardian Angels church in Oakdale, MN.
If you can’t make it, no worries! We also have a Zoom meeting in which you can join remotely or view the replay on our Facebook page HERE.

But we would love you have you join us in person so we can meet and welcome you.
