LEADER AWARDS

In Scouting the four steps to advancement is the Scout Learns, the Scout is Tested, the Scout is Reviewed, and the Scout is Recognized. The same goes for leaders. There may be no advancement but there are awards. And leaders who work hard should strive to earn this awards as it is the measuring stick of a job well done. And, we should always recognize our leaders.
The first award we recommend for leaders is the Scouter’s Training Award. You can find more information HERE.

There are many other leader awards for your unit service. At Eastern Waters, we wish to encourage leaders to strive for these awards and wish to present these awards at Roundtable so we can celebrate your successes with you.
At Eastern Waters, we have several unique awards for excellence at a unit level and at a district level. We even have an award for the Chartering Partner of the Year.
District awards earned at a unit level include the Distinguished Unit Scouter Award, which a recipient will earn a name tag with that honor etched on it.

Another award we have is the Spark Plug Award, to recognize those who have brought a spark of energy to their unit.

The Spark Plug Award, the Distinguished Unit Scouter Award, and the Chartering Partner of the Year are awarded at a special awards ceremony at the annual roundtable picnic and potluck in May of each year.

The recipients of the District Award of Merit are unaware they are being nominated.

Finally, the Silver Beaver Award. While not a district award, nominations for Scouters of exceptional service to the council is turned into the district.

Last, but not least, let’s not forget about recognizing our Chartered Organizations that have supported Scouting for so long.
There is the Chartered Organization Partner Award (COPA). This award is to give back to a Chartered Organization for its outstanding commitment to the Scouting program. It is given every other year (on odd years) and cannot be re-awarded for five years.
